Hi, I’m Jack — founder of Shore Up.
My career has never sat neatly inside one box.
Over the years, I’ve trained, practiced, and coached across multiple disciplines — always curious about how different approaches to movement influence one another. That curiosity shaped how I work today.
Yoga improved my mobility and body awareness. That mobility carried over into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Jiu-Jitsu pushed me to get stronger and more resilient. Heavy strength training gave me the foundation to control awkward positions, maintain balance, and move with confidence. Each discipline fed the next.
What stood out wasn’t any single method — it was how integrated movement made everything work better.
Alongside this, I qualified and worked as a Level 4 Sports & Remedial Massage Therapist, spending years helping people manage pain, recover from injuries, and move more freely again. That hands-on work deepened my understanding of the body beyond performance alone — how stress, lifestyle, posture, and load all shape how someone feels day to day.
My approach blends:
Strength and conditioning
Movement therapy
Hands‑on sports massage
The goal isn’t just to get you fitter — it’s to help you shore up the foundations that keep you moving well long‑term.
A big influence on my work is rope flow — a rhythmic, circular movement practice that builds coordination, joint health, conditioning, and mental focus.
You’ll often find me training outdoors — on the beach or by the River Adur — because movement shouldn’t feel boxed‑in or disconnected from the world around you. Rope flow is low‑impact, scalable, and incredibly effective for:
Shoulder and hip health
Core integration
Cardiovascular fitness
Stress reduction and nervous‑system regulation
It’s not about chasing exhaustion or aesthetics. It’s about building a body that moves smoothly, powerfully, and with intent.
Like many people, life threw me a curveball. Health issues, stress, and disrupted sleep (parenthood will do that) forced me to rethink how I trained and recovered.
That experience changed how I coach.
I’m not interested in extremes, quick fixes, or one‑size‑fits‑all programmes. I work with real humans — busy parents, stressed professionals, athletes, and people getting back to movement after a setback.
Empathy, adaptability, and sustainability matter just as much as sets and reps.
Who I work with
I work with people who:
Want to move better and feel stronger
Are dealing with niggles, pain, or recurring injuries
Feel disconnected from their body or training
Want coaching that’s personal, local, and thoughtful
Sessions can include personal training, movement coaching, sports massage, or a hybrid of all three — tailored to what you actually need.
Local, personal, connected
Shore Up is proudly local. I work in and around Shoreham‑by‑Sea, often outdoors, Personal gyms and now in the fabulous Shoreham Osteopathy Centre.
If you’re looking for something more grounded than a typical gym experience — something personal, modern, and human — you’re in the right place.
Let’s shore up your movement, your strength, and your long‑term health.
